DKNY Holiday Soirée

I'm loving the "free" shwag we get for shopping this weekend!! "Free" of course because as you know you have to spend at least 200sd to get it all, and it's pathetic how little time it took me to accomplish that. I wasn't even trying, I actually didn't think I'd be able to do it but then of course the new DKNY was released at the same time as the soirée began, and a few other great items in Starplaza, and before I knew it my Gift-O-Meter was full!!

What do you think of the gift items? And the Fall DKNY collection?

YELLE mon belle! ♫ ♪

I'm so excited to see Yelle on Stardoll!!! I happened to be in Europe the summer that her Pop Up album came out and you couldn't turn on the TV or walk outside without hearing Je Veux Te Voir! She's one of my favorite memories of that trip, and that entire CD is so good and so much fun!!

Watch the music video for Je Veux Te Voir HERE!

p.s. This makes me sad!:

Style_Magazine: "If you love me you'll buy my overpriced crap!"

Just now I received this message from Style_Magazine in Chat:

Classy, right? Here's what she has in her StarBazaar:

Pretty ordinary things, for 60 stardollars a piece. The only interesting item is the Vivienne Tam "Sequin Goldfish Flapper Dress", which I found in the StarBazaar a while back for only 15 stardollars. I also like the RARE white Inspired By etc. top, but certainly not enough to pay that much for it.

Me and a few other girls left her comments in her guestbook saying just that, but they were promptly deleted (I was able to get a screenshot before she deleted mine) Lol!! Not much for criticism, eh Style? =D

I guess she thinks that she's famous/important enough that just because she owned these things they're worth more? Like when celebrities buy a mansion and then sell it for millions of dollars more than they paid for it since their mere presence on the property raised its value? Ooooh Style, just when I think people are unfair to you and give you a hard time for no reason you do something like this and remind me why they say those things about you in the first place! =D

UPDATE: Uh-oh!! I'm in trouble! Lol!

New Moon: I think I'm finally obsessed!!!

I've seen New Moon three times. By accident!! Sort of...see this is what happened! I went on Friday night with a bunch of friends and we got there late so we missed the beginning, so of course I had to go back on Saturday night to see it again. The beginning is important! And then I went on Monday night because my Twilight-obsessed friend heard I went without her and made me go again. These are perfectly normal and acceptable reasons to see it multiple times within a 5 day period!!! Right?? Oh who am I kidding, I'M OBSESSED!! I'm so ashamed :( I never hated the Twilight series by any means, but I didn't consider myself a huge fan. I never thought I'd be standing in line at the movies to see it for the 3rd time in a row! What is happening to me?!? Am I getting sucked into the douche vortex?? AHHHHH!!! RUN, save yourselves!!

The soundtrack, however, is something I'm not the least bit ashamed to say I love. It's an awesome mix of songs, most by bands I wouldn't have known about otherwise, and it captures the tone of the film beautifully. It is definitely worth buying, and if you don't believe me check it out below (click on the VIDEO icon with the musical note at the top left-hand corner of the player for the first song so that you can see the music video for "Meet Me On the Equinox" by Death Cab for Cutie!):

Hot Buys & LE: Label-Whoring, Stardoll Style!

I'm a big fan of the StarBazaar, I have found so many great dresses and shoes and things much cuter and cheaper than most of the stuff I see in Starplaza. Every once in a while I'll see something FUGtastic for waaaay too much money, and 9 times out of 10 when I click on it it's "Hot Buys" or some real brand or whatever. Stardoll even knows some of this junk is ugly (see Fudge "RARE ugly bag" in the bottom right-hand corner of the picture above. Price? 60sd)!! When visiting other people's suites I see that a lot of people have collections of these things in their rooms set up almost like a museum.

They've usually paid a ridiculous amount of money for an ugly or "nothing special" item. The same with the LE items I see in people's suites and in the shop, 200 stardollars for THAT? Really?? I just didn't get it. I know that the "Limited Edition" aspect of them makes them rare and thus more valuable and desirable (so exclusive that you can't even click on them in the shop lol), but I've never wanted something just because it was rare if it wasn't at least awesome-looking as well. And even then, 200sd for one item? That's an entire month of Superstar membership allowance. For ONE thing. That's just crazy. And then I started to think about it in real world terms. These obsessive collectors of Stardoll Hot Buys, LE, Real Brands, and rares are label whores!! Stardoll is preying on the label whore in all of us!

For those of you who don't know what a label whore is (from urbandictionary.com):

So, if Stardoll is a kid's website (I'm still not sure..) they're basically teaching kids to be greedy, materialistic, AND wasteful with their money. In addition to selling outfits for baby prostitutes. Great! =/

Holy Inapropriateness Stardoll!!

Today as I was browsing Starplaza I noticed the dress I'm wearing above in the first image, the rust orange "Basic Jersey Dress" from the Stardoll shop, and I'm no prude but I was like, "Whaaaaat?!? Does the material really have to cling to my chest like that? Are those really protruding boobs I'm seeing?? Isn't this a KIDS website?!?" So then I start searching the other shops and I find even more questionable ensembles, like the gold lamé "On stage" bra and skirt (on stage and on a stripper pole maybe....j/k Beyoncé, I can't hate on ya! But really Stardoll??).

Then there's the friggin' black bra with CHAINS on it, and the "Studded Hot Pants" umm, no honey those aren't hot pants, those are underpants thank you very much! The last picture is of the shortest pair of short shorts I have ever seen, and I've caught a few episodes of Rock of Love I'm not gonna lie.. To the right you can see my friend Michaelxwho modeling a Julien MacDonald-inspired gown with a dangerously plunging neckline and side cutouts that Rose McGowan wore to a M.A.C. charity event (you can buy it in her StarBazaar for 15 stardollars :)

So once and for all, is Stardoll a kids website? Or more of an all ages website? Am I just being a prude?

Migliu-ICKY Controversy! :(

This just makes me sad. I know you've already read about it on practically every Stardoll blog there is, but for whomever hasn't I'll recap. A Stardoll member by the name of Migliukee (try saying that five times fast!) submitted some drawings to Stardoll which impressed them so much that they decided to create a clothing line in Starplaza based on her designs, Migliukee for Stardoll (the first time EVER that a Stardoll user designed their own line for Stardoll). Little did they know that these were not her designs, they were sketches she had stolen from a relatively popular blog, www.paperfashion.wordpress.com, though clearly not popular enough that anyone at the Stardoll offices had ever seen it. Unfortunately for Migliukee many Stardoll users had, and the controversy of the stolen artwork blew up all over the blogs. As of late last night the shop has been removed from Starplaza, and Migliukee (who has since all but deleted her account, or perhaps had everything taken from her by Stardoll) has posted the following on her presentation; you can also see the guestbook comment of an outraged Stardoll member:

LadyVenuz raises an excellent point, why hasn't Stardoll addressed this? Is merely removing the content enough? I think some sort of statement is in order, this is an incredibly embarrassing situation in which they failed to verify ownership of these designs, and not only betrayed the trust of their members with their negligence but also wronged the incredibly talented artist, Katie Rodgers (you can see the drawings that the clothing was based on HERE* on her blog).
What is also sad is that this will certainly discourage Stardoll from ever giving legitimate artists and graphic designers a chance to have their work showcased in Starplaza. If they were too lazy to make sure the designs were legit this time they will probably be too lazy to do so in the future.

You can still see the clothing in Migliukee's Styling Studio (and the people that purchased them before the store was removed still have them):

Only time will tell...

Now it seems that Dan aka DanPuffs has also reappeared, also quite suddenly, and also without addressing his own identity controversy (that he is a girl named Bella, and that he's the Burn Book, and that he's Mimi_LaRue who deleted her account). Will he and former Perez co-contributor Undamyumbrella ever hash out their feud over the comments she made on Britneys07's blog? Will he and Perez ever address these rumors about them? Do they even care? And speaking of Perez, Dan has her on his Best Friends list as "Madame Morrible", a character from the novel and play Wicked who isn't exactly the protagonist as far as I can tell from her character description online (I've never read the book, to be fair.)...is this a dig at Perez? Only time will tell...if anyone finally starts talking!

I can't help but wonder...

So a while ago the Gossip Girl published a damning article claiming that PerezStarGossip was LaPrimaDonna, and it was the hot topic for a while on the blogs. Then right before Halloween Perez herself pops up in a Willy Wonka costume and posted a quick hello to her readers on the blog. She said nothing about the LPD controversy, and LaPrimaDonna has said nothing about Perez's (her?) appearance. I can't help but wonder, what's the deal?
